Turmeric is widely known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and it can be a great addition to your dog’s diet. One of the most effective ways to introduce turmeric to your dog is by making Golden Paste. This easy-to-make recipe can help support your dog’s immune system, reduce inflammation, and even fight cancer.
Here’s a simple recipe to make Turmeric Golden Paste at home.
Turmeric Golden Paste Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup organic turmeric powder
1 to 1 1/2 cups filtered water
1 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup organic ghee (can substitute with coconut oil)
Directions:
Mix the turmeric with 1 cup of water in a pan. Set aside the remaining water in case you need it to thin the paste later.
Stir the mixture over low/medium heat for about 7 to 10 minutes. The mixture should thicken into a paste during this time.
If the paste becomes too thick, gradually add more water.
If the mixture is too watery, add a little more turmeric and cook for another couple of minutes.
Once the paste reaches a thick consistency, add the black pepper and oil. Stir thoroughly to combine.
Let the mixture cool, then store it in a jar with a lid in the fridge. It will keep for up to 2 weeks.
How to Feed Golden Paste to Your Dog
You can add the Golden Paste directly to your dog’s meals—most dogs don't mind the taste at all! Here’s a starting guide for how much Golden Paste to add to your dog’s diet:
Small dogs: Start with 1/4 teaspoon per day
Medium dogs: Start with 1/2 teaspoon per day
Large dogs: Start with 3/4 teaspoon per day
Giant dogs: Start with 1 teaspoon per day
The suggested dosage is 1/4 teaspoon per 5 kg of body weight, but it’s best to gradually increase the amount over time. Since turmeric passes through the body quickly, it’s recommended to feed smaller amounts a few times throughout the day.
The Benefits of Turmeric Golden Paste
Turmeric Golden Paste can help your dog by:
Reducing inflammation, which is beneficial for joint pain and arthritis.
Boosting the immune system with its antioxidant properties.
Supporting the body’s natural defenses against cancer and other chronic conditions.
As with any supplement, it’s always a good idea to consult your vet before introducing Golden Paste into your dog’s diet, especially if they have pre-existing health conditions or are on medication.
