Chakras & Dogs: Understanding Your Dog’s Energy Centres

Dog chakra

Dogs are deeply connected to energy, often picking up on shifts in our mood, emotions, and even the environment around them. But did you know that, just like humans, dogs have chakras—energy centres that influence their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being?

This concept isn’t new, but it’s not something you’ll often hear about in mainstream dog training. Energy work has been used for centuries in both human and animal healing, yet it remains outside the typical approach to canine behaviour and well-being.

When your dog’s chakras are in balance, they feel calm, confident, and happy. But when blocked or out of alignment, imbalances may show up as anxiety, aggression, behavioural challenges, or even physical health issues.

If you’re new to this, start simple—it doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. Even small shifts, like walking on natural surfaces or spending mindful time with your dog, can make a difference.

Whether you’re fully into energy healing, just a little curious, or simply looking for something new to support your dog’s well-being—understanding their energy centres might offer a different perspective on their behaviour, emotions, and health.

The 7 Chakras & What They Mean

Just like humans, dogs have seven main chakras running from the base of their spine to the top of their head. These energy centres govern different aspects of their body, emotions, and overall well-being.

1. Base Chakra (Base of the Tail) – Security & Grounding 🐾🌿

  • Balanced: Your dog feels safe, confident, and secure.

  • Imbalanced: Fearfulness, insecurity, excessive nervousness, or aggression.

  • How to Support It: Grounding activities like walking on grass or sand, gentle massage, and red crystals (like red jasper). Energy healing to clear fears or past trauma that may be impacting a sense of safety.

2. Sacral Chakra (Lower Abdomen) – Emotions & Creativity 🐾🧡

  • Balanced: Playful, social, and emotionally expressive.

  • Imbalanced: Excessive shyness, difficulty bonding, or overexcitement.

  • How to Support It: Water play, creative training games, orange foods (like pumpkin or carrots), and orange crystals (like carnelian).

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Upper Abdomen) – Confidence & Power 🐾☀️

  • Balanced: Assertive but not aggressive, independent yet connected.

  • Imbalanced: Excessive dominance, timidity, or digestive issues.

  • How to Support It: Confidence-building exercises, structured training, yellow crystals (like citrine), and digestive-supportive foods (like bone broth). Energy healing to release emotional blocks related to self-worth or fear of failure.

4. Heart Chakra (Centre of the Chest) – Love & Connection 🐾💚

  • Balanced: Loving, affectionate, trusting.

  • Imbalanced: Overattachment, separation anxiety, fear of love/affection.

  • How to Support It: Heart-centred bonding activities, green foods (like leafy greens), and pink or green crystals (like rose quartz). Energy healing to support emotional wounds and deepen trust.

5. Throat Chakra (Throat) – Communication & Expression 🐾🔵

  • Balanced: Expressive but not excessive, clear in their needs.

  • Imbalanced: Excessive barking, difficulty expressing needs, sore throat issues.

  • How to Support It: Encouraging healthy vocalisation (cueing barking and rewarding silence), singing to your dog, blue crystals (like lapis lazuli). Energy healing to promote clearer self-expression and reduce excessive barking.

6. Brow Chakra (Forehead) – Intuition & Awareness 🐾👁️

  • Balanced: Strong connection to you, highly intuitive, good decision-making.

  • Imbalanced: Confusion, lack of focus, overreacting to things unseen.

  • How to Support It: Mental stimulation games, scent work, meditation with your dog, indigo crystals (like amethyst).

7. Crown Chakra (Top of the Head) – Spiritual Connection & Peace 🐾✨

  • Balanced: Deep connection to life and their surroundings, peaceful energy.

  • Imbalanced: Restlessness, disconnection, or appearing lost/unsettled.

  • How to Support It: Quiet time in nature, gentle touch/massage, violet crystals (like clear quartz).

But Dogs Have Something Extra… The Brachial Chakra

While dogs share the seven main chakras with humans, they have an eighth chakra that is unique to animals—the Brachial Chakra. This energy centre plays a vital role in their bond with humans and other animals, acting as the primary chakra that connects and influences all others.

8. Brachial Chakra (Between the Shoulders) – The Primary Animal Chakra & Human-Animal Bond 🐾💞

This chakra is exclusive to animals and is often considered their primary energy centre. It is deeply tied to a dog's relationship with humans, their trust, connection, and sense of security.

  • Balanced: Strong bond with their human, trust, willingness to learn, and a sense of emotional stability.

  • Imbalanced: Resistance to connection, fear of people, difficulty in training, lack of trust.

  • How to Support It: Positive reinforcement training, physical touch, intentional bonding time, and energy healing to strengthen the human-animal bond and clear emotional resistance.

A well-balanced Brachial Chakra helps dogs feel safe, secure, and deeply connected to their human companions.

Signs Your Dog’s Chakras May Be Out of Balance

If your dog’s energy is out of alignment, you may notice certain behavioural or physical signs. Here’s how imbalance might show up in everyday life:

🔴 Base Chakra (Root) Blocked: Your dog is overly fearful or reactive, hesitant to explore new places, or excessively barks when feeling insecure. They may struggle with housetraining or seem unsettled in their environment.

🟠 Sacral Chakra Blocked: Your dog lacks playfulness and enthusiasm, avoids social interactions with other dogs, or swings between extreme excitement and withdrawn behaviour.

🟡 Solar Plexus Chakra Blocked: You may notice digestive issues (sensitive stomach, bloating, loose stools) or your dog struggling with confidence—either acting overly dominant or extremely timid in new situations.

🟢 Heart Chakra Blocked: Your dog has separation anxiety, constantly follows you around, or seems hesitant to accept affection. Some dogs with this blockage may appear distant or struggle to bond with their humans.

🔵 Throat Chakra Blocked: Your dog either barks excessively (demanding attention) or is unusually quiet, struggling to communicate their needs. They may have trouble following commands or expressing discomfort.

🟣 Third Eye Chakra Blocked: Your dog seems unfocused, distracted during training, or overly sensitive to things that aren’t there (e.g., reacting to shadows or unseen energies).

⚪️ Crown Chakra Blocked: Your dog appears restless, unable to relax even after exercise, or may seem disconnected from their surroundings and people.

⚫️ Brachial Chakra Blocked: Your dog struggles with trust, shying away from touch, avoiding eye contact, or resisting handling (like putting on a harness or being groomed). Rescue dogs or dogs with past trauma often need extra support in this area.

How to Support Your Dog’s Energetic Balance

Bringing your dog’s energy into alignment doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are a few simple ways to help balance their chakras:

Grounding Activities – Walking on natural surfaces (grass, dirt, sand) helps regulate the Base Chakra.

Calm & Connection – Spending mindful time with your dog, deep breathing, or simply being present with them helps align their energy.

Training & Enrichment – Mental stimulation supports confidence (Solar Plexus Chakra), while bonding activities strengthen love & trust (Heart & Brachial Chakras).

Kinesiology for Dogs – Muscle testing can uncover energy imbalances, emotional blocks, or nutritional sensitivities affecting your dog’s well-being. Through gentle corrections, kinesiology helps restore harmony, supporting both physical health and emotional balance.

Massage & Reiki – Gentle massage and Reiki healing can clear energy blockages.

Crystals – Placing crystals near your dog’s bed or collar can help balance specific chakras.

Colour Therapy – Feed foods or use blankets, beds, or collars in colours that correspond with the chakra needing support.

Final Thoughts

Understanding your dog’s chakras and energy flow can deepen your connection and help you better support their emotional and physical well-being.

Just like humans, dogs need balance, grounding, and energetic harmony to feel their best. If your dog is experiencing behavioural challenges, consider looking beyond traditional training—sometimes, the answer lies in their energy.
