I sat down with Claire Forsyth, an experienced animal kinesiologist, to chat all things vibration, trauma, and the real reason your dog’s skin issues might have more to do with stress than shampoo.
Here’s a glimpse of our conversation…
Q: Let’s start with the science. What is energy healing, really?
Claire:
Unresolved emotion is just vibration. That’s the science. We store these vibrations in the body, and when they aren’t cleared, they affect us physically. Energy healing works by introducing a frequency that helps clear those vibrations.
So it’s not just spiritual - it’s actually very integrative. Especially for dogs with deep trauma, it helps release those stuck patterns from the body. I often describe it as vibrational medicine, which is rooted in quantum physics.
Q: And you don’t have to believe in it for it to work, right?
Claire:
Yes! It’s not about belief. It’s about energy and biology. Even Einstein said the future of medicine would be vibrational. The science is already there.
Q: What’s the biggest myth or stereotype you wish people would let go of?
Claire:
The “woo woo” image! You hear “energy healer” and people imagine flowy skirts and crystal wands. I call myself “woo-adjacent” because yes, I work with energy but I’m also deeply grounded in the science of it.
It’s not about chanting or being mystical. It’s about frequencies, biology, and emotional safety. That’s why it works.
Q: You mentioned that behaviour, trauma, and physical symptoms are often connected. Can you share an example?
Claire:
Oh, so many. One case that stands out was a little dog in Singapore with major anxiety, skin issues, and digestive problems. On the surface, they seemed unrelated. But energetically, they were all tied to boundaries - emotional and physical.
The dog had been handled too much as a pup, didn’t feel safe, and never learned how to protect itself. Interestingly but not surprisingly, the owner had the same issues. They were mirroring each other.
Once we worked on healing that core fear, things shifted dramatically. The skin cleared, digestion improved, anxiety dropped - and all after just one session.
Q: That’s incredible. Why do you think energy healing works so quickly in some cases?
Claire:
Because we’re not treating symptoms. We’re getting to the root. The body wants to heal - it just needs the right conditions. Energy healing clears the “noise” so the body can do what it already knows how to do.
Q: We’ve talked before about dogs absorbing their humans’ emotions. Can you expand on that mirror effect?
Claire:
Dogs are deeply connected to us - energetically and emotionally. If your dog is struggling, it’s often helpful to ask: What are they trying to resolve? And what does that bring up in me?
When you look at it that way, healing your dog can also help you heal yourself. It becomes a partnership, not a one-way street.
Q: If there’s one thing every dog owner should understand about their dog’s emotional world, what would it be?
Claire:
That it’s not that different from your own. Dogs may show it differently, but they experience a full emotional spectrum. And often, their behaviour is their way of expressing something that needs support - not just “fixing.”
Final Thoughts from Deb
This conversation left me in awe - not just of Claire’s incredible knowledge and her uncanny way of breaking things down, but of the power of energy healing, particularly kinesiology. It all just makes sense. Our dogs are emotional beings. And when we support their energy, their behaviour, health, and connection with us all begin to shift.
Energy healing isn’t about choosing between science and spirituality. It’s about understanding the full picture and offering your dog a gentle, powerful way to heal.
